We’re all really excited here at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery for this year’s Masquerade inspired by Turner’s ‘The Fountain of Indolence’. To get a bit of an peek behind the scenes and into how it all came about, one of our interns caught up with Adda Mihailescu, our Art Educator and Manager of Public Programs, to talk about Gold, Gods and Glitter, our 2012 Masquerade happening February 18th.

Beaverbrook Art Gallery Masquerade – Back for 2012! / bal masqé de retour pour 2012!
January 21, 2012We are pleased to announce the return of our Hottest Event of the Year in the dead of winter: our 2nd annual Masquerade event!
A sold-out success last year, this year’s theme changes artists, drawing inspiration from J. M. W. Turner’s The Fountain of Indolence and framing it as Gold, Gods and Glitter. With the support of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, we’re hard at work developing a divine décor fit for gods and goddesses. We hope that you’ll use these words and images when imagining costumes fit for a divinely decadent celebration, too. This year’s Masquerade happens February 18th, only 3 days before Mardi Gras, a holiday rife with Bal Masqués, bacchanalian luxury, and social festivities.
The evening will feature:
- Music by DJ Mizz Maxine
- Gold and Glitter face painting with Rusianne
- Photobooth with Dragon-fly Photography
- In-house bar featuring Fredericton’s elixir of the Gods, Picaroons Beer!
- Free admission to Boom! afterparty with ticket stub on Masquerade night!
Tickets are $30.00 and are available now! All proceeds help support the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s programming.
Call 506-458-2028 or email emailbag (at) beaverbrokartgallery.org to purchase! (Please don’t send credit card information by email – it’s not safe! If you email us, we’ll call you back.)

Graeme Patterson’s Grudge Match featured in Here
January 19, 2012“Most of my art is taken from my past. (Wrestling) was kind of the last thing I was heavily involved in that wasn’t art-related. I was really involved in wrestling and I really took it seriously. There are a lot of memories, a lot of emotions and a lot of relationships built up that were important to me at the time.”
- Graeme Patterson
